Comparing Broker APIs for C# FX Algorithmic Trading
Summary
The document collects suggestions for connecting C# trading software to FX brokers, with the original question focused on free API access for simulated development and possible later live trading. It names several providers and APIs, including Dukascopy, TD Ameritrade, and FXCM, then offers examples from respondents rather than a systematic comparison.
The replies point to FIX 4.4 and .NET libraries as possible integration routes, describe MB Trading’s COM-based SDK and free demo account, and mention a community Dukascopy .NET API and an ECN-oriented C# API. These are historical, anecdotal recommendations; the document gives no benchmarks, current availability checks, fee comparison, or evaluation of reliability. One reply notes that the cited ECN service’s real accounts were denominated only in PLN, illustrating that account terms can constrain a seemingly suitable API.
Key ideas
- FIX 4.4 is suggested as one route for connecting to a Dukascopy trading API.
- A respondent describes MB Trading’s COM-based SDK as usable from C# and available with a demo account.
- Community-built .NET tools are also cited for Dukascopy integration.
- The recommendations are anecdotal and do not provide a current, like-for-like broker comparison.
- Account currency and other broker terms may limit the usefulness of an API.

# C# Broker API for FX Trading # C# Broker API for FX Trading I am looking for a broker who provides a free trading API for FX. The goal is to develop at-home algorithms in C# (possibly Qt) to run on a fake portfolio, and then later on real money with competitive broker fees. Would you know some comparison of such APIs? What do you think of OANDA? Dukascopy? TD Ameritrade? Here is the list of APIs I have found so far: - Delta Trading API - FxSpyder - AVAFx - Dukascopy bank trading API - TD Ameritrade - FxCM ## Answer by Svisstack (score 2) https://quant.stackexchange.com/a/9273 Take a look at FIX4.4 protocol, accessible from http://www.dukascopy.com/swiss/english/forex/api/fix_api/ Thread about C# libraries: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4876279/fix-library-for-net ## Answer by DAC (score 1) https://quant.stackexchange.com/a/9434 I use MB Trading SDK for automated trading.
