Connecting Reddit Sentiment Analysis to OctoBot Crypto Trading
Summary
This guide describes connecting OctoBot to Reddit so it can monitor selected subreddits for posts about traded cryptocurrencies. When its forum evaluator is enabled, OctoBot applies VADER sentiment analysis to posts and creates coin-level summaries for use with the platform’s daily trading mode. The workflow involves adding Reddit as an account interface, choosing relevant subreddits for each coin, and supplying credentials from a Reddit script application.
The document explains how to create that application and enter its client identifier and secret in OctoBot’s configuration. It does not specify how sentiment scores are weighted, how summaries become trade decisions, or how quickly posts are processed. No trading results or validation evidence are provided. Reddit discussion can be noisy and unrepresentative, so the described connection explains an input source and setup process rather than establishing that sentiment-based signals are profitable or reliable.
Key ideas
- OctoBot can monitor specified Reddit subreddits for posts related to traded cryptocurrencies.
- Its forum evaluator uses VADER to analyze post sentiment and summarize it by coin.
- The resulting summaries can feed OctoBot’s daily trading mode.
- Setup requires Reddit application credentials and subreddit selections for each cryptocurrency.
- The guide gives no signal rules, performance evidence, or validation of Reddit sentiment as a trading edge.
