Finding Global Commodity Company and Price Data APIs
Summary
The document asks how to build a worldwide dashboard of companies linked to lithium and other commodities, extending beyond an Australian-market listing to regions such as the Americas, Europe, and Asia. It considers whether major financial data services could supply the needed coverage through an API.
The response points to two providers with free account options: one described as offering basic commodity data, and another as offering broader web and API access to commodity prices, with limited free access and paid plans. This is a practical pointer to data sources rather than a comparison or evaluation. It does not establish global coverage of listed companies, detail regional completeness, explain API formats, or assess data quality and licensing, so those requirements would need separate verification.
Key ideas

- The response names two commodity data services with free account options.
- One option is characterized as basic, while the other is presented as having a broader commodity price offering.
- The document does not verify global company coverage, API suitability, or data quality.

# API for Commodities Stock markets # API for Commodities Stock markets I would like to have a clear picture about lithium investments all over the World. I like this website where I can see all companies related to lithium on the Australian Market. The website also proposes other commodities like nickel, copper, etc...: Nice. But is there any website or API that could provide such information at World scale? I would like to cover US, Latin America, Europe, Asia, etc... The goal is to create my dashboard through Python, SQL Server and Power BI. Do you think Bloomberg or Yahoo can provide such API service? ## Answer by amdopt (score 2, accepted) https://quant.stackexchange.com/a/71013 Here are 2 options I know of that have free accounts. They also offer paid plans that may be worth it if you are willing to pay a small amount. Commodities-API - Free public API. Create an account to get an API key. Not a huge offering, just the basics. Commoprices.com & Commoprices API - Web query and API access to over 10,000 commodities. There is a free account, but it is pretty limited. This site and API has an extensive offering.
