Finding Historical Dividend Data for Nasdaq-Listed Stocks
Summary
The document addresses how to obtain historical dividend records across Nasdaq-listed stocks, including regular and special distributions. One response describes using Mathematica or WolframCloud’s financial data functions to retrieve dividend histories for individual symbols and to look up the exchange’s symbol list. It then sketches how to organize results across several symbols, while warning that the built-in dataset may not extend as far back as the desired period.
A second response suggests investigating a paid Zacks dividend database available through Quandl, mentioning that trial access may be offered. These are practical data-source suggestions rather than a comparison of coverage, accuracy, adjustment conventions, or licensing terms. The question also asks about repurchases, but the responses address dividend data and do not establish that either source includes complete repurchase histories. Users would need to confirm available date ranges and fields before relying on the data for research.
Key ideas
- Financial data services can provide dividend histories for individual Nasdaq symbols.
- A symbol lookup can be used to build a list of securities for bulk retrieval.
- Built-in datasets may not cover the full requested history.
- Paid vendor databases are another possible source, but coverage and fields should be checked.
- The responses do not confirm that the suggested sources include stock repurchases.

The built in data does not seem go quite 5 years back, but you can access dividend data within Mathematica / WolframCloud as well:
```
FinancialData["NASDAQ:AAPL", "Dividend", {"Jan. 1, 2010,", "Nov. 4, 2015"}]
```
To get a list of all symbols on the NASDAQ:
```
list = FinancialData["NASDAQ:*", "Lookup"]
```
To get/organize data for several symbols on this list (first 5 shown for example):
```
Transpose[{Take[list,{1,5}],Table[FinancialData[list[[i]], "Dividend", {"Jan. 1, 2010,", "Nov. 4, 2015"}], {i,1, 5}]}]
```

While I do not subscribe to this particular database, I have used Quandl extensively for a variety of reasons and have paid for subscriptions. Zacks apparently has a fairly robust database of dividends, you might want to create an account on Quandl.com and try it. They do offer trials
