# Stopping an investment

## Stopping an OctoBot

You can stop a running OctoBot at any time in order to pause or stop its investment strategy execution.

Stopping a running OctoBot will:
- Cancel all its buy and sell open orders
- Prevent it from creating new orders
- Instantly sell each coin bought by the strategy (if this option is selected)
- Free the associated exchange account, allowing it to be used by any other strategy

## Restarting an OctoBot

After being stopped, OctoBots can be restarted in order to resume your investment strategy.

A restarted OctoBot will start again to apply its strategy while keeping its original portfolio history and profitability.
