Article Quant Q&A · Author: user3426614

Summary

This exchange recommends The Rise of Carry to readers seeking an account of how markets and economies changed over roughly two decades, including central-bank policy, quantitative easing, low yields, and stimulus. The recommendation frames the book as a perspective on the interaction between market structure, central banks, and the incentives of market participants, rather than as a conventional economics survey.

The document offers no detailed explanation of the book’s arguments, supporting evidence, or analytical method; it is a brief reading recommendation, and the positive assessment belongs to the respondent. It also distinguishes the requested focus from technological changes such as electronic trading and digital assets. Readers should treat the exchange as a pointer to a particular interpretive account, not as a summary or balanced evaluation of recent economic history.

What I would like to read is how the economic spectrum have changed over the period ( Central banks policy decisions , QE 1/2/3 , ECB TLTRO, BOJ unlimited stimulus ). How the central bank dealt with the low yield environment with record breaking expansionary economy. I am not looking for technological advancement in the economy ( as your mentioned Elec trading, dark pools or for that matter bitcoin). But something rather how the economic landscape has changed in last 20 years

Read the Rise of Carry. It'll give a very original and in my opinion correct perspective of what's happened in market and economies in the past 20 years.

It will be nothing like an economics book and more a book grounder on the realities of market structure, central banks, and participant incentives.
