Tracking Recent Daily Highs and Lows Against Current Price

Article TradingView scripts

Summary

This chart indicator finds the most recent daily high at or above the current bar’s high and low at or below its low, then marks those price levels. It searches backward through available daily bars, up to a configured history limit, and requests the results on the chart’s current timeframe. A table reports each level’s date, elapsed days, price, and percentage difference from the current close; display settings control colors, table position, and size.

The tool is a reference aid for locating when current price last reached or exceeded these extremes. If the search finds no earlier qualifying bar, it labels the current level as an all-time high or low within the available data. The description gives no trading rules, performance tests, or evidence that these levels predict future price movement. Its results are limited by the loaded chart history and the configured search depth, so the all-time labels should be read in that context.

Key ideas

  • The indicator searches backward on daily bars for the latest high at least as high as the current high and the latest low at least as low as the current low.
  • It plots horizontal lines at the identified prices and summarizes their dates, ages, and differences from the current close.
  • The search is capped by a configurable maximum history, so an all-time label applies only to data available within that search.
  • The indicator describes price levels but provides no entry, exit, or risk-management rules.
