Using a Higher Timeframe for the MAMA Indicator

Article MQL5 code base

Summary

This document describes a version of the MAMA indicator that lets the user select the timeframe used for its calculation through an input parameter. It presents the indicator as either two lines or a colored cloud, allowing higher timeframe information to be viewed on a chart with a different active timeframe.

The material is primarily a feature note, not a strategy guide: it does not explain MAMA's calculations, define entry or exit rules, or provide performance evidence. It also requires a separate MAMA indicator file to be installed before use. The document therefore establishes a configurable display approach but leaves interpretation, validation, and trading application to the user.

Key ideas

  • The indicator lets users choose the timeframe for MAMA calculations.
  • It can display the output as two lines or as a colored cloud.
  • It depends on a separately installed MAMA indicator file.
  • The document provides no trading rules or evidence of performance.
