Using Bloomberg Terminals to Export Analyst Recommendation History

Article Quant Q&A · Author: Tester

Summary

The document asks where to obtain analysts’ earnings estimates and whether data shown on a website can be imported into a personal database. The response points to Bloomberg terminals available at some local universities or colleges, particularly in business departments. It says Bloomberg’s ANR function provides current and historical analyst recommendations from individual firms and allows the information to be exported to Excel.

This is a practical lead for researchers seeking analyst-related data, but the answer does not establish that ANR contains the specific earnings-estimate fields asked about. It also does not explain how to import an export into a database, give access or licensing conditions, or describe coverage and historical depth. The suggestion is therefore best treated as a possible institutional access route for recommendation data, not as a confirmed free source for earnings estimates or a complete data-ingestion method.

Key ideas

  • Some university or college business departments provide access to Bloomberg terminals.
  • The response identifies Bloomberg’s ANR function as a source of current and historical analyst recommendations.
  • The answer says that ANR data can be exported to Excel.
  • Recommendation data may not match the earnings-estimate data requested, and database import steps are not described.

I know thomsonreuters provide analysts' earnings estimates data. Is there any sources I could get it for free?

For example, this website has analysts' earnings data. What's the source of this and how to import to my own DB?

If it helps, your local universities/college have bloomberg computers as part of their business section. They are especially useful as the function ANR provides all available/current and historical recommendations from each firm and it's available to be exported to excel.
