Hypothesis
Corpus concentration: BINANCE is 49.6% of experiments and SPOTMETAL is 0.3% (16 runs). Prior gold tests were session-breakout, Asian drift, NR7 daily, trend confluence, data-slot continuation, VRP regime and PAXG basis. None buys liquidity-shock drops on an intraday clock, and this design is the exact complement of the 08:30 data-slot CONTINUATION run (it excludes those slots). It uses the shape with the best survival in the factory: event-driven (12% survival), flat most of the time, fixed-clock exit, the long side of shock absorption (L224/L230), pure OHLCV (L189). It is long-only, which adds to an over-represented direction bucket. That is justified because L230 shows the short mirror of absorption fails and requires a separate pre-registered test, so the short arm is deliberately left out rather than added untested.
Implementation
Long-only event trade on XAUUSD.SPOTMETAL 1H bars. A shock bar has a close-to-close log return <= -shock_k x the std of the previous sigma_lookback 1H returns. It qualifies only if it closes outside the US macro windows (08:00-11:00 NY inclusive on weekdays, 14:00-15:00 NY inclusive on any day) and is not the first bar after the Sunday 18:00 reopen. The strategy buys at market on the shock bar's close; the session venue fills it at the next 1H bar's open (next_open_fill). It exits on a fixed clock hold_bars session bars after the fill, with a market order decided at that bar's close and filled at the next open. A reduce-only intrabar stop sits at fill - stop_atr_mult x Wilder ATR(14) from the decision bar; a session that opens through the stop fills at the open. Size is chosen so the stop loses risk_pct (1%) of equity, with notional capped at min(3, leverage) x equity. Only one position is open at a time, and shocks during a trade are ignored.
Backtest and paper results are hypothetical. Trading involves risk of loss.
